Masala vada/ Dal vada


This is a scrumptious evening snack to be served with tea or coffee.



Ingredients:
1 cup bengal gram / chana dal
1 tablespoon rice flour
1 onion finely chopped
6 green chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
Chopped coriander &mint leaves
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
asafetida a pinch
salt to taste


Method:
Soak the chana dal for 4-5 hours. Drain completely and grind the dal along with fennel seeds and green chillies into a coarse paste. It should not be a smooth paste.
Add the rice flour, chopped onion,coriander, mint leaves, curry leaves asafetida & salt.
Combine all ingredients together and take a lemon sized portion in the hand and press against the palms to make a circular disc.
Heat oil in a wok or frying pan. Add the circular discs to the oil and fry until golden brown.
Remove from oil and transfer into a colander lined with paper towel.
Serve hot with tea or coffee . Enjoy!!
