- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1 cup grape juice
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons arrowroot or corstarch
- 2-3 bananas
- Almonds for garnish
Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice the berries.
Split open the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
Add all the berries, vanilla bean and pod (or vanilla extract), grape juice, apple juice, maple syrup and bayleaf to a pot. Bring this mixture to a simmer for about 5 minutes.
Place the arrowroot or cornstarch in a small mixing bowl. Take 3-4 tablespoons of water and add to the bowl and stir well until combined. Add this to the pot and simmer for 2-3 minutes more.
Remove from heat and discard the vanilla bean and bayleaf. Allow the sauce to cool.
Peel the bananas and split them lengthwise. Pour the sauce over the bananas and garnish with almonds.
