Chocolate Orange Spider Cupcakes

Kids love anything sweet especially with chocolate... and yes the appearance is very important.. they will try and eat anything that appeals to their eyes.. and yea..that is somewhat true with us adults too!..and who does not love chocolate?
So here is a chocolatey delight..chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chips and chocolate icing ..Try it.. it's a winner!

This is Valentines day special for my sweetheart "Sharan".
I am sending this as my entry to Edible Entertainment's Kid's delight event.
Preparation time: 40-45 minutes (includes frosting preparation)
Baking time :25-30 minutes
Yields: 12 cupcakes
Ingredients:
For the cup cake:
1- 1/2 All purpose flour
1-1/4 cup brown sugar/ raw sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 stick butter at room temperature
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 Cup Milk
3 teaspoons yoghurt
1/2 cup semi-sweetened chocolate chips
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 lemon

For the chocolate frosting:
2 cups confectioners sugar
1 stick butter at room temperature
5-6 tablespoons condensed milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For the decoration:
Chocolate sprinkles
M&M candies
Chocolate sticks or decorative candles

Method
For The cup cakes:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fareheit and line a muffin pan with 12 paper muffin cups.

Melt the butter. Keep it aside.
Add the juice of 1/2 lemon to boiling milk. Cool the curdled milk and keep it aside.
Combine all the dry ingredients ( flour, sugar, cocoa powder, orange zest, baking soda and baking powder) in a mixing bowl.
Add the melted butter and yoghurt.
Add milk little by little and fold well.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Pour the cupcake mix in the muffin holders.
Bake in the top rack of oven at 350 degrees farenheit for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

For The chocolate frosting:
In a mixing bowl sift together sugar and cocoa and keep aside.
In another large bowl cream butter until smooth. Now, add the sugar/ cocoa mixture, condensed milk and vanilla extract.
Beat until smooth and fluffy using a hand mixer.
Adjust consistency by adding some more condensed milk or sugar as required.

The final decoration:
Frost each cup cake and add the sprinkles.
I used decorative candles to make the spider's legs. You may also use chocolate sticks instead.
I drew eyes on M&M candies with a writing marker.
