Thenga Thogayal

I'm back to blogging after a short break! My kid has his summer vacation and I did not even dream that vacations would be so damn busier than the school days. Moreover my parents are here with me so I'm chauffering them all around the place, shopping et all. I'm really having a gala time but miss blogging a lot too. So, I said to my self that no excuse is good enough and I need to post atleast once a week.
Well here is a coconut dish which is  a perfect accompaniment to steamed rice.

Mavadu/ Vadu Mangai/ Kadukku mangai/ Baby mangoes in brine pickle

I have more than a single reason to be happy. One because blikki.com mentioned What's cooking @ Kavita's kitchen? as one among 10 great food sites to watch this summer. A big thanks to Joyce Alaxander the publisher of blikki.org. Check this out http://www.blikki.org/nutrition-june-2012/.
The other reason for celebration is my parents are here with me for vacation. So now you will see a lot of recipes cooked by my mom on this space and I'm going to take care of just photographing and blogging about it. Sounds cool doesn't it? So why the wait? Let's start right away with the first recipe which is baby mangoes in brine ( salt water) pickle.

Samosa: A Guest Post

Thank you Lavanya of "Tickle your tastebuds and make your life delicious" for giving me this opportunity to guest post, my very first one in fact! I have found Lavanya to be very enterprising and always up to something new. I thought a yummy scrumptious snack like samosa would be an apt guest post for a lively and enthusiastic blogger friend like her. Also I must thank Lavanya for the lovely certificate of participation. So let me take you to Lavanya's blog to read my guest post.

Sukhe aloo ki subzi/ Spicy potato stir fry

This is another simple yet delicious potato preparation. Potatoes stir fried in spices makes a wonderful combination with rotis or puris (Indian flat breads). And yes let me reiterate that you can never go wrong with potatoes!

Cabbage rice

Cabbage rice is an easy and yummy one pot meal. Most of the ingredients required for this dish will be readily available in your pantry. The best part is kids love it and what better than making kids eat their daily dose of vegetables?
This recipe was shared to me by my eldest sister-in-law Jyothi (btw I have three altogether). She is a wonderful cook and when it comes to food both she and her mother-in-law can create magic with the delectable dishes that they prepare!
